5/2/2023 0 Comments Noteplan reddit![]() I should note that subtasks don't come across well in other apps. It's quite flexible, has a "kanban" view, and like NotePlan seems to be made a single obsessively dedicated developer who will write you back. I sometimes will dump tasks that are not going to be done at my desk into GoodTask because I can easily mark them complete from my watch. Plus the watch integration is pretty good - you can set the watch to show any given smartlist. Then, if you want to work the lists more thoroughly - assign start dates, add links, notes, subtasks, you can switch over to GoodTask, and have a smart list that shows "work: today, tomorrow, and high priority" tasks, or one that just shows "home: coming week" etc. The advantage here is that your tasks show up in NotePlan (and you can add/complete from NotePlan), and they also show up in Fantastical, or any other app that integrates with the builtin reminders database. The iOS apps are also skinnable, so you can make it look like you want if that's important to you. It is built on top of the Apple Reminders database, but allows for "smart lists" that are similar to Perspectives (OF) or Filters (ToDoist). It's what I use now, and it's a great middle ground between the customization of OmniFocus or ToDoist, and just using Apple Reminders. I don't need a permanently available record that I took out the trash, for instance. Plus, there are some things that need to be done, but are also trivial enough I don't want them cluttering up my NotePlan notes. But there is a compelling advantage to using Apple Reminders in that the tasks can be shown in many places. I've been a heavy user of OmniFocus, ToDoist, and Things, and I really like the abilities of OmniFocus and ToDoist to set fairly complicated filters to show just a relevant set of tasks. There's certainly more but I can't come up with it on the top of my head, so it can't be that important to me.I find that as much as I love and rely on NotePlan, some things still work better in a dedicated todo app. Merge 2 notes when drag-dropping in the sidebarĪllow multi selection in sidebar for deleting more then one note at a time Pie charty circle for main task with subtasks to indicate completeness that design choice might be worth re-thinking for future updates. ![]() having the task-circle be a font-char and not a picture or a char of my chosen font often misaligned with font sizes. Speaking of themes, pre-tables I liked having a monospaced font. ![]() ![]() Yes, of course there is a ton of iOS specific gimmicks (widgets, apple watch complication etc.) but they are not necessaryĪs I fucked up some of the themes: reset to factory is missing… allow access to apple calendar, maybe even add tags to each entry depending which calendar it came from ("12-13 zoom /w ed #calendar/work") and then never use apple calendar app again.įor reminders import, or even just the tasks written in NotePlan itself: notifications. Here is a list of features that I miss:Įmbedded audio should have somewhat of a player that can keep you reading/writing in the same timeĪlthough I love calendar and reminders integration, I rather would have a complete migration = import function. I have been using NotePlan for a good amount of time. ![]()
